Buy Local Month Begins

Friday, November 15 - Sunday, December 15, 2019
Hampton Roads Region

Buy Local Month is a campaign to raise awareness of the importance of supporting local businesses who are the backbone of the local economy. The sense of place that we have here in Hampton Roads, all that makes us unique, is largely thanks to our small businesses: where we meet to dine with friends, where we take our out of town guests to visit, where we buy gifts, where we enjoy craft beers, all build our culture. Here in Gloucester, we encourage you to shop and use services from our many independent businesses. The Gloucester Business Directory will help you explore all that our local businesses have to offer! Keep your local shops in mind for Shop Small Saturday on November 30.

2019 Craft Cup Beer Awards

Hundreds of Virginia breweries competed in the 2019 Virginia Craft Beer Cup in Richmond and two Gloucester breweries took home awards. Congratulations to Gloucester Brewing Company for taking second place in the Alternative Fermentable Beer for its "DeadRYEz" brew! The brewery website describes the beer as "a lighter brew with a third of the grain bill consisting of rye for additional flavor, and aroma from Nugget and Cascade hops." Cheers to That Damn Mary Brewing Company in White Marsh for winning third place in the Amber and Brown American Beer category for the "Easy Money" brew!
